A Dog’s Day on the Heath hamper winners!

And that’s a wrap on the East Devon Pebblebed Heath Week 2026. A whole week of fun activities, talks, walks and celebrations kicked off this year with our first ever Dog’s Day on the Heaths event!

Despite the challenging weather conditions we were safely able to provide a fun-filled day out for dog lovers of the Heaths. This included wildlife, archeology, conservation, enrichment and training walks, talks and stalls from local experts.

Many of you came out to your favourite dog walking spot on the Pebblebed Heaths with and without your dogs to learn more about this fascinating landscape and how to enjoy it safely with your furry friends.

As this was our first event of this kind your feedback has been extremely important to us in shaping future events. We are very grateful to everyone who took the time to fill out the feedback questionnaire for a chance to win an incredible doggy prize hamper. Exhibitors to the event were kind enough to donate a fantastic array of prizes including toys, treats, accessories, training vouchers, eco friendly poo bags, a dog poo carrier, canine first-aid kit, cold-pressed dog food and more!

Our lucky winner has now been announced… so we would like to congratulate Fiona and her two standard Dachshunds Ruby and Luna, who you can see proudly accepting their tail-wagging prize!

“Luna is a 5 year old Dachshund (black and tan) who loves eating my homegrown carrots straight out the ground and exploring the woods on Woodbury Common.

Ruby is a 1 year old Dachshund (shaded red), she loves food, especially nabbing the wild blackberries on her walks.

I love walking the dogs on the heaths as it is so peaceful and there are so many different areas to enjoy. My dogs love the variety of paths and spend lots of time exploring.

We enjoyed the Dog’s Day on the Heath as it informed people about responsible dog walking on the heaths and also useful skills including canine first aid.  I made a few purchases at the local business stalls and appreciated the organisers efforts to provide lots of shade and water for the dogs as it was a warm day.” – Fiona

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along from exhibitors, stall holders, dog owners and of course their beloved pups. The Pebblebed Heaths is a very special place for wildlife, people and the many dogs that walk there, which is why it’s so important that we all play our part in protecting it for the future.
