Prickly Pear Blossom Park

Tucked away near West Hill along the B3180 close to Ottery St Mary, Prickly Pear Blossoms Park and Recreation Ground is a peaceful 21-acre woodland and parkland site, perfect for a short escape into nature.

Gifted to the National Trust in 1904, this small but very special space offers a quiet, scenic setting with a mix of Beech trees, bracken, seasonal wildflowers, and open paths to explore.

It’s an ideal spot for dog walkers looking for a gentle wander, with short circular routes that make it easy to tailor your walk. The natural, uneven dirt tracks add to it’s charm, giving a real “off the beaten path” feel, but do be prepared for mud underfoot during wetter weather.

Despite it’s modest size, this hidden gem is full of character and provides a calm, uncrowded environment to enjoy time outdoors with your dog.

  • Free parking
  • Accessed just off the B3180 (easy to find but nicely tucked away)
  • Uneven terrain with natural dirt tracks

A lovely little spot for a relaxed wander, simple, scenic, and well worth a visit.
